TO CREATE, DELETE AND EXTEND DISK USING DISK MANAGEMENT USING WINDOWS 10
To create disk partition using disk management do the following steps below.
1. Go to My Computer or This PC in Windows 10 and 8 for Users who uses Windows 7 go to My Computer and right click and then select Manage as shown below:
2. After click Manage the following dialogue box will appear as shown below then in the left panel you will find the word Disk Management under Storage Items then click to open
3. After click Disk Management the following dialogue box will appear as shown below
4. After select disk management then in the dialogue box appear choose partition C:\ as shown in the figure below and right click and choose shrink the volume as shown in the figure
6. After shrink the disk partition manager will look like this as shown in the figure below
7. Then right click the unlocated disk and choose New Simple Volume as shown below
9. Then click Next as shown to create new volume
10. Then Assign drive letter for the disk to be shown in your computer after click Next as shown
11. After choose file system NTFS and allocation unit size as default and name to which you want your disk to appear as shown, here is KUNGU then click Next as shown
12. Then click finish to format the partition as shown
13. After finish in the disk manager will see another disk added as shown below name as KUNGU
14. After the volume will add another disk to your computer. To see this, go to my computer and check as shown
METHODS 2: DELETE DISK PARTITION USING DISK MANAGER
Now we are going to delete that partition using disk management. To delete the partition, do the following steps:
1. Go to disk management as shown in the first step above and choose disk management
2. Go to the disk you want to delete and right click as shown and select delete volume as shown below
4. The volume will be delete as shown below and then will change to grey color
METHODS 3: EXTEND YOUR VOLUME USING DISK MANAGER
This is the process of add volume to another volume to increase your disk space for example if you have partition C: and D: and you want to extend or join another partition the first you need to delete the partition which does not contain operating system and backup all the data then you can add to that disk C:
The following are the steps to extend the volume:
1. Go to disk Manager and select local disk C: and right click and select Extend Volume as shown below and then click Next in the dialogue appear
2. Then select disk as shown and click Next to extend the disk C: as shown
3. Click finish as shown
